Once there was a hot argument between the mountain and the squirrel. The mountain called the squirrel an undersized prig. The squirrel replied that the mountain was definitely big but all things like a year and an atmosphere were the sum total of small things. So squirrel was not ashamed of his smallness and position, because everything in nature had a place and role. The squirrel could not make a squirrel track like the mountain or carry a forest on its back. But, on the other hand, the mountain could not also crack a small nut like the squirrel.

Fable Summary Long

Fable by Ralph Waldo Emerson is about power and humility. It presents an argument between a massive mountain and a tiny squirrel. The mountain The argument starts when it calls the squirrel Little Prig. To this, the squirrel with immense self-respect humbly replies that it is true the mountain is no doubt a mammoth entity compared to him. Yet small objects also have their places in nature. Only a season doesn’t make a year or only big things don’t make a sphere. He asserts that he considers himself a lawful Inhabitant of this planet, not an intruder. He contends that he may not be as massive as the mountain, but in that case, the mountain is not as slight or half agile as he. The squirrel humbly thanks him for the beautiful squirrel track. Every creature has a specific skill which is necessary for its survival.

In this universe, nothing is put randomly, nor is anything out of place. Every object-large or Small is placed well and wisely. The only difference of talent. It can not be the criterion of one’s importance. The mountain Should not feel all-powerful because he can carry a forest on his back. He should also feel humble and appreciate the squirrel because he can crack the hard shell of a nut but which the mountain can’t.
