FAQ on Rice Preparation

How do you make rice step by step?

To cook rice, you will need the following ingredients:
a) Rice
b
) Water
c
) (Optional) Salt, butter, or oil
Here are the steps to cook rice (steamed) on the stove:

1. Measure the rice using a measuring cup. A general rule of thumb is to use 1 and 1/2 cups of water for every cup of rice.
2. Rinse the rice under cold water. This removes excess starch and helps prevent the rice from clumping together.
3. Place the rice and water in a container. You can also add a pinch of salt and a pat of butter or a drizzle of oil if desired.
4. Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
5. Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to the lowest setting and cover the container with a tight-fitting lid.
6. Let the rice simmer for 30 minutes, or until the water has been absorbed and the rice is tender.
7. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes. This allows the rice to steam and become fluffier.
8. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve.
