Once I crept in an oakwood-I was looking for a stag.

একবার পুরুষ হরিণের খোঁজে আমি ও গাছে জঙ্গলে প্রবেশ করেছিলাম।
সেখানে নোংরা কাপড় পরিহিত এবং অসংলগ্ন এক বৃদ্ধ মহিলার সাথে আমার সাক্ষাৎ হলো।
তিনি আমাকে বললেন যে, আমার সমস্ত গোপন কথা তার থলির মধ্যে আছে।
এই কথা বলে তিনি বিশ্রী ভাবে হাসতে লাগলেন এবং আমি ভয়ে কাঁপতে লাগলাম
তারপর তিনি তার ছোট্ট থলি খুললেন এবং আমি জ্ঞান হারালাম।
যখন জ্ঞান ফিরলো আমি আবিষ্কার করলাম যে আমি একটা খুঁটিতে বাধা আছি এবং একদল আদিবাসী মানুষ আমাকে ঘিরে রেখেছে।
তারা আমাকে জানালো যে, তারা হচ্ছে ওক গাছ এবং আমার সত্যিকারের পরিবার।
তারা অভিযোগ করল যে তাদেরকে কেটে ফেলা হয়, তাদেরকে ছিড়ে ফেলা হয় আর আমার সেদিকে কোন ভ্রুক্ষেপ নেই।
যদি তুমি এখন প্রতিশ্রুতি না দাও তাহলে তুমি এখন মারা যাবে।
যখনই তুমি দেখবে একটি অভ্যাস কেটে ফেলা হচ্ছে, কথা দাও তুমি দুটি গাছ রোপন করবে।
যদি তুমি এখন প্রতিজ্ঞাবদ্ধ না হও ওক গাছের কালো ছাল তোমাকে ঢেকে ফেলবে।
এবং ওক গাছের মতো মাটিতে আটকে যাবে যেখানে তুমি জন্মাবে কিন্তু কখনো বৃদ্ধি পাবে না।
এই সব কিছুই ছিল আমার স্বপ্ন যেটা আমি ও গাছের নিচে ঘুমিয়ে পড়ে দেখেছিলাম কিন্তু এই স্বপ্নটা আমাকে পরিবর্তন করে দিল।
আমি যখন ওক গাছের জঙ্গল থেকে মনুষ্য সমাজে ফিরে এলাম,
শরীরের দিক থেকে আমি মনুষ্য সন্তান হলেও অন্তর থেকে আমি গাছে পরিণত হয়েছি।
